Neochrome Photochromatic (Similar to Transitions Brand)
Click "Add to Cart" if you would like your lenses to be photochromatic using NeoChromes. Not Sure? Read Below...
Description/Use: Much like "Kleenex" is used synonymously with "Tissue", Photochromatic lenses are often referred to as Transitions...however, Transitions are a brand name! Transitions and Neochromes are both a type of photochromatic lenses we offer.
What is the difference?
Photochromatic lenses are much more than something that allows your clear lenses to turn into sunglasses when you go outdoors! It is a light adaptive, digital blue blocking, premium quality overall enhancement to your vision! When photochromatic lenses first hit the market they were made of glass. These lenses were not really clear indoors but turned pretty dark outdoors. When the brand Transitions offered the lighter weight competition available in plastic, they too suffered some negative feedback. They got almost clear indoors but not very dark outdoors. Today, you can still get photochromatic lenses and "These ain't your grandpa's glasses" - they have improved since they first came out!
Today, cutting edge technology allows photochromatic lenses to adapt to light in various ways. All photochromatic lenses also block digital blue light -so do not let your optical company charge you extra for this feature as many do! They all include UV protection too! Today's photochromatic lenses each have features that are beneficial and the various types differ by which features that lens focuses on! No pun intended!
NeoChromes were first introduced as a less expensive alternative to the Transitions brand. However, in test studies, it was found that Neochromes not only change to a darker shade but change 2x faster than the Transition lenses! While clear indoors, there is a very light shade to the lens.
