Not Sure? Read Below...
Description/Use: The conventional progressive lens is the first type of progressive lens made. While it allows the basic function of providing a distance, intermediate and near field of vision, it does have drawbacks in comparison to modern standards.
Reason it is considered "Basic":
As seen in Photo "B": the conventional lens has peripheral distortion and a narrow channel for your viewing plane - often causing the need for head movement in order to see properly through it. Modern technology has allowed significant advancements to achieve a much better "standard progressive lens" - the digitally surfaced progressive lens or simply the "digital progressive". Many optical companies choose to avoid the conventional lens as the digital progressive has been the standard base model for years. However, we know that budget can be more important than luxury or additional benefits.
With the average cost of progressive lenses at $350 (just for the lenses), many are confused when companies can offer Progressive lenses for a significant amout less - it is important to compare "Apples to Apples" as the saying goes.
At EcoEyeCo.com, the base conventional lens is $99. The Digital Progressive is $149 and the Hi-Definition progressive lenses are $249. There are many considerations. If you would like help choosing a lens please feel free to contact us.
Prescribed For: Generally after the age of 40 years old, these lenses are prescribed for people who have difficulty focusing in the distance and at least near and/or intermediate ranges. Working with the natural flow of the eye's movement, these lenses have almost entirely replaced the standard bifocal and trifocal lenses.

The basic (standard) material for this lens is made of a plastic material called CR-39. However, there are multiple options regarding the material and options. On this page you can change the material. To add extra options, please visit the "Lens Options" page.
Material Options:
CR39: If no other option is selected, these lenses will be made of CR-39, a standard plastic material.
Polycarbonate (Thin/Light/Impact Resistant): Lenses made from Polycarbonate are thinner and lighter in weight than CR-39. Due to it's impact resistance, this material is often required by state law for making lenses for minors. It is also used for saftey glasses and athletic glasses. Though it is impact resistant, it is not any more scratch resistant than CR-39. In fact, many agree that it can scratch easier.
Hi-Index 1.67 (Thinner & Lighter) - Due to the properties of this material, it has a higher index of refraction. This allows us to make the lenses even thinner and lighter than the polycarbonate lenses.
Hi-Index 1.74 - This is the Thinnest & Lightest Lens Available by Law! Many companies choose not to offer this lens due to the high production cost - especially if an error is made during the process. EcoEyeCo.com not only offers this lens in a variety of lenses but it is significantly less than what others charge as well. This lens material is only available in for Digital or HD progressive lenses.
If you do not choose an option below or add one of these options on the "Lens options" Page, your lenses will be made of CR-39.
